Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person feels pain, he should place his hand on the place of the pain and then recite these words seven times: 'A'udhu bi-izzatillahi wa qudratihi ala kulli shay'in min sharri ma ajidu' (I seek refuge in the might of Allah Almighty and in His power over everything, from the evil of what I feel)."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Ma'shar Najih, who has been declared thiqah (trustworthy), although a large group declared him da'if (weak), and his being declared trustworthy is weak; the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
