Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was suffering from fever. He said: "Shall I not teach you a ruqyah that Jibril performed on me?" I said: Yes indeed, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Its words are:) "Seeking blessing by the name of Allah Almighty, I perform ruqyah on you; may Allah Almighty heal you from every illness that afflicts you (or that you wish to be cured of)." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take it, and may it (the knowledge of it) bring you joy."
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher al-Miqdam bin Dawud, and he is da'if (weak); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy). I say: Other hadiths of this kind will come later, in the chapter on adhkar (remembrances) and in the chapter on seeking refuge, about what one should recite in the morning and evening, if Allah wills.
