Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no significance to contagion (of disease), to Safar (the month being ill-omened) or to the ham, and two months never (consecutively) complete thirty days." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: From this Companion,
this narration will come in a more complete form in the chapter on blood money (diyat), in the chapter concerning one who kills a dhimmi.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Amr bin Muhammad al-Ghaz, and I do not know him, and Abd al-Rahman bin Thabit bin Thawban, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Imam al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and others graded him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Some hadith about evil omens will come later, along with what a person should say at that time.
