وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - نَظَرَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ ، فَوَجَدَ قَلْبَ مُحَمَّدٍ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - خَيْرَ قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ ، فَاصْطَفَاهُ لِنَفْسِهِ ، وَابْتَعَثَهُ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ ، ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ [ بَعْدَ قَلْبِ مُحَمَّدٍ ] ، فَوَجَدَ قُلُوبَ أَصْحَابِهِ خَيْرَ قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ فَجَعَلَهُمْ وُزَرَاءَ نَبِيِّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يُقَاتِلُونَ عَنْ دِينِهِ ، فَمَا رَآهُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ حَسَنًا فَهُوَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ حَسَنٌ ، وَمَا رَآهُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ سَيِّئًا فَهُوَ عِنْدُ اللَّهِ سَيِّئٌ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ مُوثَقُونَ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Indeed, Allah Almighty looked at the hearts of the servants and found the heart of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to be the best of the hearts of all the servants, so He chose him for Himself and sent him with His message. Then He examined the hearts of the servants (after the heart of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)) and found the hearts of his Companions to be the best of the hearts of all the servants, so He made them the ministers of His Prophet, who fight for His religion. Whatever the Muslims regard as good is good in the sight of Allah Almighty as well, and whatever the Muslims regard as bad is bad in the sight of Allah Almighty as well.
