Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Uyaynah bin Hisn came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time there was a man with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water; it was brought, and he screened himself and then drank it. He (Uyaynah) asked: "What is this?" the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Modesty and faith — they were given both of them, and you have been denied both of them (or: both of these were not given to you)."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration. Its chain contains Yahya bin Muti' al-Shaybani, and I do not know him. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
