وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ :
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَنْفَاسٍ يُسَمِّي عِنْدَ كُلِّ نَفَسٍ ، وَيَشْكُرُ فِي آخِرِهِنَّ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَالْكَبِيرِ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ ، وَفِيهِ الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ عِرْفَانَ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to breathe three times in the vessel, and each time he would mention the name of Allah (or recite Bismillah), and at the end he would give thanks.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form. Its chain contains al-Mu'alla bin Irfan, and he is matruk (abandoned).
