It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from a silver vessel.
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration within a long hadith, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, adding these words: "the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade silk that is pure silk; but if its warp or its weft is of silk, then there is no harm in wearing it." The narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
