عَنِ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيِّ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ لِنَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - نَهَى عَنِ الشُّرْبِ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ ؟ قَالُوا : نَعَمْ .
Abu Shaykh al-Huna'i said: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Do you know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from vessels of gold and silver? They replied: Yes.
