Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8195

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wine is the root of all evils. Whoever drinks it, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days; and if he dies in a state where that wine is in his stomach, he will die the death of the Days of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Shabbab bin Salih, and I do not know him; the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy), and some criticism has been made of some of its narrators which is not harmful.
