Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever drinks wine will remain impure for forty days. If he repents of it, Allah Almighty will accept his repentance. If he does it again, he will be impure for forty days; if he repents of it, Allah Almighty will accept his repentance. If he does it yet again, he will again be impure for forty days; if he repents of it, Allah Almighty will accept his repentance. If he does it a fourth time, it is binding upon Allah Almighty that He make him drink from Radghat al-Khabal." The people said: "O Abu al-Abbas! What is meant by Radghat al-Khabal?" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "The fat of the people of Hell and their pus."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Shahr bin Hawshab; the hadith he narrates is hasan (good), and there is weakness in him.
