Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were in Madinah, where fruit was very plentiful, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fadikh to us. A man came to him (that is, to Sayyiduna Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him)) and asked about a very old woman: "Should we give her nabidh to drink, since she does not eat food?" Sayyiduna Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade the man from that.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in abridged form; the narrators of both are thiqat (trustworthy).
