وَعَنِ أَبِي سَلِيطٍ قَالَ : أَصَابَ النَّاسَ فِي غَزْوَةِ خَيْبَرَ مَخْمَصَةٌ شَدِيدَةٌ فَقَامُوا إِلَى حُمُرِهِمْ فِي مَحْضَرٍ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَجَزَرُوهَا ، ثُمَّ طَرَحُوهَا فِي الْقُدُورِ ، فَبَيْنَا هِيَ تَفُورُ نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُهَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُ الْحُمُرِ الَّتِي تَطْبُخُونَ " . فَكُفِئَتِ الْقُدُورُ عَلَى وُجُوهِهَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .

Sayyiduna Abu Salit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the battle of Khaybar the people were struck by severe hunger. The people got up and went to their donkeys - this was in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) - slaughtered them and then set the pots on the fire. While the pots were still cooking, the command making them unlawful was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prohibition of the donkeys you are cooking has been revealed." So their pots were overturned.
