Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We took part in the fighting at Fadak and Khaybar with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator says: Allah Almighty granted His Messenger the conquest of Fadak and Khaybar. The narrator says: The people came upon vegetables where there was garlic and onion. The narrator says: When those people came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed its smell and was troubled by it. Then, when the people did it again, he said: "Beware, do not eat it; whoever eats any of it must not come near our gathering." The narrator says: On the day of Khaybar the people took domestic donkeys (and slaughtered them) and set their pots on the fire, and I also set my pot on the fire. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of this, he said: "I forbid you from it, I forbid you from it." He said this twice, so the pots were overturned, and I also overturned my pot. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded from this Companion the prohibition of garlic and onion for one who comes to the mosque, whereas here the words are: "he must not come near our gathering."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains Bishr bin Harb, who is da'if (weak), though he has also been declared trustworthy.
