Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8056

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it in order to preserve the riding animals.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir with similar wording. The chain in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir contains Hibban bin Ali, in whom there is weakness, though he has also been declared trustworthy; and the chain in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat contains Muhammad bin Jabir, who is matruk (abandoned), though he has also been declared trustworthy.
