بَابٌ ثَانٍ مِنْهُ فِي اتِّبَاعِ الْكِتَابِ وَالسُّنَّةِ وَمَعْرِفَةِ الْحَلَالِ مِنَ الْحَرَامِ .

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : اقْتِصَادٌ فِي سُنَّةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنِ اجْتِهَادٍ فِي بِدْعَةٍ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : لَيْسَ بِثِقَةٍ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Moderation in the Sunnah is better than exhaustive effort in an innovation (bid'ah).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Bashir al-Kindi, about whom Yahya said: He is not thiqah (trustworthy).
