Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sometimes a man's food is placed before him, and he is forgiven before his food is lifted away." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! How is that?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the food is placed, he says 'Bismillah', and when it is lifted away, he says 'Al-hamdu lillah'."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abd al-Warith, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), and he is da'if (weak); and Ubayd bin Ishaq al-Attar, whom the majority declared da'if (weak).
