وَعَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَسْلَمَتْ وَزَوْجُهَا مُشْرِكٌ : أَبُو الْعَاصِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِحِينٍ فَلَمْ يُجَدِّدَا نِكَاحًا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ .

Imam al-Sha'bi narrates: Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), had accepted Islam while her husband, Abu al-As bin al-Rabi', was a polytheist. Later he too accepted Islam, and the two of them did not renew the marriage. Tabarani recorded the narration. Its chain contains a narrator, Jabir al-Ju'fi, and he is da'if (weak), though he has also been declared trustworthy.
