وَعَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ : بَلَغَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ : إِنْ طَلَّقَ مَا لَمْ يَنْكِحْ فَهُوَ جَائِزٌ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : أَخْطَأَ فِي هَذَا ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ : ( إِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَمَسُّوهُنَّ ) ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ إِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ، ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ نَكَحْتُمُوهُنَّ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ مُنْقَطِعٌ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Ibn Jurayj narrates: It reached Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "If a man divorces a woman whom he has not married, it will be valid." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "He has erred in this matter. Allah Almighty has said: 'When you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them.' Allah Almighty did not say: 'When you divorce believing women and then marry them.'"
Tabarani recorded it; its chain is munqati' (broken), and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
