وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " أَوَّلُ مَا يُوضَعُ فِي مِيزَانِ الْعَبْدِ نَفَقَتُهُ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The first thing to be placed in the Scale of a servant will be what he spent on his family."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
