Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey, and we were with him. The camel of Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) fell ill. Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) had an extra mount with her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Safiyyah's camel has fallen ill; if you were to give her your camel (that would be appropriate)." She said: "Shall I give it to this Jewish woman?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry, and he kept away from her for the rest of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, the month of Muharram, the month of Safar and some days of the month of Rabi' al-Awwal, until that lady took up her belongings and her bed, thinking that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perhaps no longer come to her. One day, while she was sitting at midday, she saw his shadow as he was approaching, so she laid out her bed again and put her belongings back. (Al-Haythami says:) I say:
Abu Dawud recorded it in abridged form.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a female narrator, Sumayyah; Abu Dawud and others have recorded narrations from her, and no one has criticised her. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
