Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "How is so-and-so?" She was an orphan girl who was under her care. I said: "We have sent her off to her husband." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not send with her a girl who would beat the daff and sing?" Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "What would she sing?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She would sing: 'We have come to you, we have come to you; so greet us and we greet you. Were it not for the red gold, she would not have settled in your valley; and were it not for the tawny wheat, your maidens would not have grown plump.'"
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Rawwad bin al-Jarrah, whom Imam Ahmad, Yahya bin Ma'in and Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is weakness in him.
