Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 7524

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no marriage without a guardian (wali) and two witnesses." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Imam Abu Dawud and others recorded it, but it does not contain the words: "and two witnesses."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, except that he recorded the words: "and witnesses." Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Bilal al-Ash'ari, who is da'if (weak).
