Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not proper for the scholar to remain silent about his knowledge, nor is it proper for the ignorant person to remain silent about his ignorance. Allah Almighty has said: 'Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Muhammad bin Abi Humayd, and the hadith scholars are agreed that he is da'if (weak).
