A similar narration is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), but it contains these additional words: Afterwards that woman came and told him that her husband had touched her (that is, had consummated the marriage with her). So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that woman from going back to her first husband, and he said: "O Allah! If his purpose in this is that she becomes lawful for Rifa'ah, then do not let his marriage be completed a second time." After that the woman came to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) during their caliphates, but both of them refused her.
Ahmad recorded it in this way. As for his saying "similar to it", nothing suitable is mentioned before it with which it connects; I do not know on what basis he joined it, and Allah knows best. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
