Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 7395

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted the people mut'ah out of need, because the people had come into severe need; after that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Yahya bin Uthman bin Salih and Ibn Lahi'ah, the hadith of both of whom is hasan (good), though both have been criticised; the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
