Sayyiduna Sabrah al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) states: We set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the year of the Conquest (of Makkah). We stayed (in Makkah) for fifteen days, thirty counting both nights and days. During this time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted us to contract mut'ah. The narrator says: My cousin and I went out to the lower part of Makkah (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) to the upper part. We met a young woman who seemed to be from Banu Amir bin Sa'sa'ah, and she was a young woman with a long, graceful neck. She began to look at my cousin. I said to her: "This cloak of mine is new and fine, while my cousin's cloak is old and worn out." She said: "There is nothing wrong with your cousin's cloak either." Then that cousin contracted mut'ah with that woman, and before we left Makkah the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared it unlawful.
