Kurdus bin Amr narrates: I heard a man from the people of Badr saying — Shu'bah says: I think he meant Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) — (he said:) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you explain a mufassal, that is dearer to me than so many things." Shu'bah says: I asked Abd al-Malik: What is meant by mufassal? He replied: Stories (or events).
Al-Bazzar recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator, Kurdus, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy); Abu Hatim says: There is room for consideration about him (fihi nazar). The rest of the narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.
