وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " لَأَنْ يُرَبِّيَ أَحَدُكُمْ بَعْدَ أَرْبَعٍ وَخَمْسِينَ سَنَةً جَرْوَ كَلْبٍ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يُرَبِّيَ وَلَدًا لِصُلْبِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ السِّمْطُ وَصَالِحُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُمَا ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ السِّمْطُ وَصَالِحُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُمَا ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "After someone has reached fifty-four years of age, if he raises a puppy, that is better than raising his own son."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin al-Simt, and a narrator, Salih bin Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas, and I did not find anyone who gave the biographies of these two; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
