Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever mutilates a slave or burns him with fire, that slave is deemed free, and he is deemed the freedman of Allah and His Messenger." The narrator says: Then a man came who had been castrated; his name was "Sindar". The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed him. Then, after the passing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he came to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) treated him well. After Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), he came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) treated him well. Then he intended to go to Egypt, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him): Treat him well, and safeguard the instruction of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning him.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); its chain contains a narrator, al-Hajjaj bin Artah, who is a mudallis, but he is thiqah (trustworthy).
