Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A slave girl used to graze my goats. A wolf ate one of the goats, so I slapped the slave girl on the face. Then I felt remorse, and I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: If I knew that she is a believer, I would free her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the slave girl: Who am I? She replied: You are the Messenger of Allah. He asked: Who is Allah Almighty? She replied: The One who is in the heaven. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Free her! She is a believer.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Shabib, who is da'if (weak).
