Abu al-Zubayr narrates that he asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about a man's servant when he spares him the toil and the heat. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to call them (and feed them with us), and if one of us dislikes eating with him, he should place the food in the (servant's) hand.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded something similar in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir; its chain is hasan (good).
