Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) stated: My last meeting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was five days before his passing. I heard him say: "Every prophet has had a close friend (khalil) from among his Ummah, and my close friend is Abu Bakr bin Abi Quhafah; but Allah Almighty has taken your master as His close friend. Beware! The nations before you took the graves of their prophets as places of prostration, and I forbid you from that. O Allah, have I conveyed (the message)?" He said this three times. Then he said: "O Allah, bear witness!" He said this three times. Then he fainted for a short while, then he said: "Fear Allah, fear Allah, regarding those under your ownership. Keep their stomachs full, keep their bodies covered, and speak gently to them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ubaydullah bin Zahr and Ali bin Yazid; both are da'if (weak), though both have been declared trustworthy.
