عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا ابْتَاعَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْجَارِيَةَ فَلْيَكُنْ أَوَّلَ مَا يُطْعِمُهَا الْحَلْوَاءُ، فَإِنَّهَا أَطْيَبُ لِنَفْسِهَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ أَقَلُّ دَرَجَاتِهِ الْحَسَنُ .

Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you buys a slave girl, let the first thing he feeds her be something sweet, for it is more wholesome for her."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and the lowest grade of its chain is hasan (good).
