Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what prevents the Abyssinians of Banu al-Mughirah from coming to you, except that they fear you will send them back? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no good in the Abyssinians. When they are hungry they steal, and when they are full they commit fornication. They have two good qualities: feeding people, and bravery in battle."
Al-Tabarani and al-Bazzar recorded it, and the wording of al-Bazzar is: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no good in the Abyssinians. If they are full, they commit fornication; but they have two qualities: feeding people, and strength in battle." The narrators of al-Bazzar are thiqat (trustworthy); about the narrator Awsajah al-Makki there is a difference of opinion that does no harm, and more than one scholar declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
