بَابٌ فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّى غَيْرَ مَوَالِيهِ .
One who takes as patrons other than his own

وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ تَوَلَّى غَيْرَ مَوَالِيهِ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يَقْبَلُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ صَرْفًا ، وَلَا عَدْلًا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ، وَقَالَ الذَّهَبِيُّ : لَا أَعْلَمُ مَنْ رَوَى عَنْهُ إِلَّا مُنِيبٌ . وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ، وَقَالَ الذَّهَبِيُّ : لَا أَعْلَمُ مَنْ رَوَى عَنْهُ إِلَّا مُنِيبٌ . وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever attributes himself to someone other than the masters who freed him, upon him is the curse of Allah Almighty, the angels and all people. Allah Almighty will not accept from him any obligatory or voluntary deed."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abdullah bin Atiyyah, and al-Dhahabi said: I do not know anyone who narrated from him except Munib. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
