Book of Inheritance
بَابٌ لَا تَرِثُ مِلَّةٌ مِلَّةً .
People of different religions do not inherit from one another

وَعَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قِيلَ لَهُ : ذَكَرَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ . قَالَ : " لَا نَرِثُ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ ، وَلَا يَرِثُونَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَرِثَ الرَّجُلُ عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَمَتَهُ وَنَنْكِحُ نِسَاءَهُمْ ، وَلَا يَنْكِحُونَ نِسَاءَنَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Al-Hasan mentioned on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): He was asked: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mention this? He said: Yes, he said: We will not inherit from the People of the Book, and they will not inherit from us, except that a man may inherit from his (People of the Book) slave or slave-woman. We may marry their women, but they may not marry our women.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
