عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ : أَتَى رَجُلٌ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ وَمَعَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْهِ وَيَدْعُونَهُ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي مُوصِيكَ بِأَمْرَيْنِ إِنْ حَفِظْتَهُمَا حَفِظْتَ : إِنَّهُ لَا غِنَى بِكَ عَنْ نَصِيبِكَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا ، وَأَنْتَ إِلَى نَصِيبِكَ مِنَ الْآخِرَةِ أَفْقَرُ فَآثِرْ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ الْآخِرَةِ عَلَى نَصِيبِكَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى يَنْتَظِمَهُ لَكَ انْتِظَامًا ، فَتَزُولَ بِهِ مَعَكَ أَيْنَمَا زُلْتَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ إِلَّا أَنِّي لَمْ أَجِدْ لِابْنِ سِيرِينَ سَمَاعًا مِنْ مُعَاذٍ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ إِلَّا أَنِّي لَمْ أَجِدْ لِابْنِ سِيرِينَ سَمَاعًا مِنْ مُعَاذٍ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
Muhammad bin Sirin says: A man came to Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) while his companions were with him, greeting him with salam and praying for him. Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I enjoin you with two things; if you preserve them, you will be preserved. You cannot do without your share of this world, but you are in greater need of your share of the Hereafter. So give preference to your share of the Hereafter over your share of this world, until it is arranged for you in good order, and then it will go with you wherever you go.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that I have not found any report of Ibn Sirin having heard from Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him). And Allah knows best.
