It is reported about Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that, when he was close to death, he said to his son: O my son, you will never meet anyone more sincere in wishing you well than me. When you intend to pray, perform ablution well, then pray in such a way that you think you will not be able to pray after it. Beware of greed, for it is poverty present before you. Hold fast to despair (of placing hopes in people), for such a person is the one who is truly well-off. Beware of any deed or word for which you would have to apologise; apart from that, do whatever seems fitting to you.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
