Book of Oaths and Vows
بَابُ لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ إِنَّمَا النَّذْرُ مَا ابْتُغِيَ بِهِ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ .
There is no vow in disobedience; a vow is only that by which the Face of Allah is sought

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو الْحُوَيْرِثِ ضَعَّفَهُ أَحْمَدُ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَوَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو الْحُوَيْرِثِ ضَعَّفَهُ أَحْمَدُ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَوَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Badr (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A vow concerning disobedience has no standing."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Abu al-Huwayrith, whom Imam Ahmad and others declared da'if (weak), while Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
