Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I vowed that I would slaughter my camels at one of the idols of the Jahiliyyah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fulfil your vow, but do not disobey your Lord." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no obligation to fulfil a vow concerning disobedience, concerning cutting off ties of kinship, or concerning what a person does not own."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir within a long hadith which has already passed in full in the chapter on lost property (luqatah); its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Sinan, whom Abu Hatim and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while a group declared him da'if (weak).
