Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The act of obedience whose reward comes soonest is maintaining ties of kinship; the act of obedience whose reward comes soonest is maintaining ties of kinship. Sometimes the people of a household are sinners, yet their wealth grows and their numbers increase when they maintain their ties of kinship. And the sin whose punishment comes soonest is transgression and the false oath, which takes away wealth, burdens the womb, and leaves homes in ruin."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abu al-Dahma' al-As'ab, whom al-Nufayli declared thiqah (trustworthy) and Ibn Hibban declared da'if (weak).
