Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6818

It is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is lawful for one of us from his brother's wealth? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He may eat from it himself, but he should not carry it away with him; and he may drink, but he should not carry it away with him.
Imam Bazzar recorded it; both chains contain a narrator, Hajjaj bin Artah, who is thiqah (trustworthy), but he is a mudallis, and he has been criticised.
