Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6772

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives his son something as a gift, and that son takes it and moves apart, then if the father becomes needy, the son has the greater right to that thing; but if the son had not taken it and moved apart, then the father has the greater right to that thing."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Rishdin bin Kurayb, who is da'if (weak).
