Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6745

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Gifts given to rulers are treachery."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Humayd bin Mu'awiyah al-Bahili, who is da'if (weak).
