وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : أَهْدَتْ أُمُّ سُنْبُلَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَبَنًا فَلَمْ تَجِدْهُ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهَا : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَدْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَأْكُلَ مِنْ طَعَامِ الْأَعْرَابِ . فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا مَعَكِ يَا أُمَّ سُنْبُلَةَ ؟ " قَالَتْ : لَبَنٌ أَهْدَيْتُهُ لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " اسْكُبِي أُمَّ سُنْبُلَةَ " . فَسَكَبَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " نَاوِلِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ " . فَفَعَلَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " اسْكُبِي أُمَّ سُنْبُلَةَ " . فَسَكَبَتْ ، " فَنَاوِلِي عَائِشَةَ " . فَنَاوَلَتْهَا ، فَشَرِبَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " اسْكُبِي أُمَّ سُنْبُلَةَ " ، فَسَكَبَتْ ، فَنَاوَلَتْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَشَرِبَ ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَشْرَبُ مِنْ لَبَنٍ أَسْلَمَ وَأَبْرَدِهَا عَلَى الْكَبِدِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَدْ كُنْتُ حَدَّثْتُ أَنَّكَ نَهَيْتَ عَنْ طَعَامِ الْأَعْرَابِ ! فَقَالَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، إِنَّهُمْ لَيْسُوا بِأَعْرَابٍ هُمْ أَهْلُ بَادِيَتِنَا ، وَنَحْنُ [ أَهْلُ ] حَاضِرَتِهِمْ ، وَإِذَا دُعُوا أَجَابُوا ، فَلَيْسُوا بِأَعْرَابٍ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: Umm Sunbulah presented milk to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift, but she did not find the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (at home). I said to her: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden us from eating the food of the Bedouins. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came home, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: O Umm Sunbulah! What is this you have? The woman said: It is milk which I brought to give you as a gift, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Pour it out, Umm Sunbulah! She poured it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give it to Abu Bakr! She did so. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umm Sunbulah! Pour it out. She poured it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hand it to Aishah. She handed it to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) also drank. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Pour it out, Umm Sunbulah! She poured it, then she handed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also drank. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was drinking milk, which is the most wholesome and the most cooling for the liver; then Sayyidah Aishah said: O Messenger of Allah! I had said that you forbid the food of the Bedouins. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Aishah! These people are not Bedouins; they are the people of our open country, and we are the people of their towns. When they are called, they respond. These people are not Bedouins.
