Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states: A Bedouin gave something to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him something in return and asked him: Are you pleased? He replied: No! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him more and asked: Are you pleased? He replied: No! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him more and asked: Are you pleased now? He replied: Yes! Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have resolved that henceforth I will accept something only from a man of Quraysh, or of the Ansar, or of Thaqif.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it; he states: A Bedouin presented it as a gift (ahda); he used this word in place of the word "hibah" (gave).
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, with these words: He gave a she-camel, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him something in return for it. The narrators of Imam Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
