Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever asks you in the name of Allah, give to him; whoever seeks refuge with you in the name of Allah, grant him refuge; whoever invites you, accept his invitation; and whoever gives you a trotter as a gift, accept it."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, (in which) he said: "Whoever gives you a foreleg or a trotter as a gift, accept it."
Abu Dawud recorded this narration, but without these words: "Whoever invites you" up to the end; those words are not in it. The narrators of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are the narrators of the Sahih, except the narrator named Layth bin Abi Sulaym; he is thiqah (trustworthy), but he is a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain).
