Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6609

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates (al-Mas'udi says: I think he reported it as a marfu' hadith, attributed to the Prophet) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Once you no longer need it, do not withhold surplus water or surplus pasture (that is, grass)." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: I have recorded it here because of these words of the report: "after one no longer needs it".
Imam Ahmad recorded it.
