Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a piece of land belonging to Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) in which there were crops. He said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, do not consume usury (riba) and do not feed it to others, and cultivate only land that you have inherited, or that you will pass on as inheritance, or that you have given as a gift (or that has been given to you as a gift)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Uthman bin Ata', and he is da'if (weak), though Duhaym declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
