Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6591

A daughter of Utbah bin Ulaylah and a woman from the family of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) both narrate that they heard Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There is no household to which a faddan (that is, a plough or other farming implements) comes in the morning except that they become humiliated." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: There is also a hadith from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the Sahih about the censure of farming, and it is other than this report.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; I do not know these two women, and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
